Hi Leigh, It's Natalie Witkin. I started a national program with Willow Breast Cancer Support called In Our Genes to raise awareness about BRCA as well as provide information and support. I would love to chat about ways to raise awareness.

No, but you know who might, albeit indirectly - kevin marshall. His wife bikes for Young Survivor's Coalition every year, and that org is tied closely to FORCE. She might know someone.

(and I should be the type of person who knows...this stuff is all directed at me, person avoiding the genetic testing)

I've often referred to the "Jewish Cancer Gene" as the Ashkenazi Curse and in 2008 I went public with my story. I was never sick but had red flags and my late mother was diagnosed with early-onset breast cancer in her early 30s. Fortunately, through excellent medical care and early screening, I had the option to take measures that will hopefully prevent me from getting the BRCA cancers.
Like you, I know many woman who decided to take the genetic test. Unfortunately, like your sister, several of them have the gene. Hopefully, having this information will help prevent them from getting breast and ovarian cancer, the latter which is very difficult to detect, particularly in the early stages when it's easiest to treat. It is a well established fact, in the world of manufacturing job engineering, that there is a productivity curve and its a bell curve. If you have had exposure to manufacturing and are in administration you begin to notice the same thing in non manufacturing jobs.

The KEY to awesome productivity is not the amount of hours worked or the flexibility of the hours, but its rather maximizing the the results of the peak of the productivity curve.

The nasty secret is that you are only going to get 4 to 6 hours of real productivity out of anyone and it makes no difference if they work 8 hours, 10 hours, or 12 hours and you sure are not going to get anything near awesome productivity from someone who has their mind on other things, so you need to maximize that productivity and forget everything else.

I've worked for many places that use how many hrs you stare at your screen in the office as the measure. It's silly.

Show me what you produce and in what time. And if you produce better results and faster by going out for three hours and clearing your head? I'm totally down with that.
